Welcome to the Website
Westwall Museum Association HGS Gerstfeldhöhe e.V.
In 1938, the construction of the Gerstfeldhöhe fortress, the largest of the 11 Type A works between Aachen and the Weißenburger Senke, began.
A total of 14 km of tunnel passages (including machine halls, a military hospital, barracks for 800 men, narrow-gauge train stations, ammunition depots) were planned.
In the summer of 1940, work was stopped in favor of the Atlantic Wall construction.
By then, 3 work groups with 10 combat stands, 4 observers and the Obersimten Type B Bunker had been completed, and approx. 5 km of tunnel passages (remaining in 2006) had been driven.
Unfortunately we are forced to postpone the opening after the winter break until further notice due to the increasing coronavirus. We think this is also in your interest and we ask for your understanding.
